In this book he expresses his personal opinion on the art of public speaking through a string of humorous behind-the-scenes stories and anecdotes based on his decade long personal experience as a public speaker. This book comes out of the tremendous experience which Scott has gained over the years from giving hundreds of speeches and presentations. This year I made a goal to read six new books and to share my experience with everyone via book reviews. For anyone else who talks and expects someone to listen, Confessions of a Public Speaker provides an insider's perspective on how to effectively present ideas to anyone. Confessions of a Public Speaker is a book on public speaking by Scott Berkun. Early reviews of Confessions of a Public Speaker. Since I began teaching Public Speaking in 2010, I've heard about Scott Berkun's Confessions of a Public Speaker. This is the first review of the year and I am excited. The book is on the home stretch. And most important perhaps, some early praise has been rolling in. A 360-Degree View of the Creative World — The book may not be too technical or throw around much speaking lingo, but what it does do is even better. Copyediting is done, the galleys are being reviewed. Scott Berkun tells an interesting, well-paced and honest (sometimes raw) account of what it's like to be a public speaker. Scott Berkun's Confessions of a Public Speaker is a great first public speaking book to read (from my personal experience). Finally, for my birthday back in April, I purchased a copy and really, really enjoyed what I learned.
